Dinner Meeting – Hastings Valley Amateur Beekeepers Association
February 3 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Our Rotary Dinner Meeting will feature Kevin Williams from the Hastings Valley Amateur Beekeepers Association to provide a talk on all things bees.
Did you know:
- Honey bees are pollinators for flowers, fruits and vegetables.
- Bees fly at a speed of 25km/hr
- Bees produce honey to store as food during the winter
- When the Queen dies, the workers select a new Queen from a young larva (the newly hatched baby insects) and feeding it a special food called “royal jelly“. This enables the larva to develop into a fertile queen.
- There are three colonies per hive – Worker Bees, Drones and the Queen Bee
