SUMMARY:Bottles & Cans Recycling Project (Weekly Collection)
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers Needed – Weekly Recycling Project at the NRMA Port Macquarie Breakwall Caravan Park. \nDate: Tuesday of each week \nTime: 10:00 am \nWork required: emptying our Rotary Recycling Cages at the NRMA Port Macquarie Breakwall Caravan Park and depositing them at the Return and Earn center off Jindalee Road\, Port Macquarie. \nCoffee and socials follows after completion at Studio 3 Espresso. \n  \nPROJECT HISTORY \nOne of our major projects is the ‘Hundred Thousand Million’ recycling project or what we now call ‘Bottles and Can’s Collection’. \nIn 2018 Rotary commenced our ‘Hundred Thousand Million’ recycling project\, aimed at raising $100\,000 from 1 million recyclables in three years through the NSW Government’s ‘Container Deposit Scheme’. This was achieved in July 2021\, precisely three years after the project commenced. Today\, we still recycle each week at the NRMA Port Macquarie Breakwall Caravan Park. \nMoney raised is invested back into the community through projects designed to build and strengthen communities.

DESCRIPTION:District Governor of 9660 Evan Burrell will join us this evening for a Rotary Cluster meeting. All of the five Rotary Club’s in our region are invited to attend plus the Rotary E-Club of 9660 and Rotary Club of NextGen. All Rotarian’s welcome. \nAbout District Governor Evan Burrell \nDG Evan is a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Greenhills Maitland. Evan has been an active part of the Rotary family for nearly 25 years. He grew up in Manly on Sydney’s Northern Beaches where he toiled in the soil to become a qualified horticulturalist and had a dream opportunity to work at the famous Taronga Zoo! After a few career changes and a stint working for Rotary Down Under magazine\, Evan now works as a bus driver in the Newcastle/Hunter region. In his spare time he continues to build his career as an actor and has featured in advertisements for brands such as Budget Direct Insurance\, AFL\, Aldi\, Nescafe\, and Cadbury Chocolate. \nEvan began his Rotary journey as a fresh-faced 18 year old in 1999 as a member of Rotaract in District 9685 and was an active Rotaractor till the age of 30\, before joining Rotary full time as a member in 2011. Before joining the Rotary Club of Greenhills Maitland\, he was a member of the Rotary club of Turramurra and was active in their graffiti removal project and the “Jumbo Joy flight” for sick and disadvantaged children. \nHe is a two-time past president\, leading Australia’s first online club\, the Rotary e club of Greater Sydney and then most recently the Rotary Club of The Ponds\, “the first Rotary coffee club of Australia”. \n \n  \n  \n  \n
