SUMMARY:Dinner Meeting - Hastings Valley Amateur Beekeepers Association
DESCRIPTION:Our Rotary Dinner Meeting will feature Kevin Williams from the Hastings Valley Amateur Beekeepers Association to provide a talk on all things bees. \nDid you know: \n\nHoney bees are pollinators for flowers\, fruits and vegetables.\nBees fly at a speed of 25km/hr\nBees produce honey to store as food during the winter\nWhen the Queen dies\, the workers select a new Queen from a young larva (the newly hatched baby insects) and feeding it a special food called “royal jelly“. This enables the larva to develop into a fertile queen.\nThere are three colonies per hive – Worker Bees\, Drones and the Queen Bee\n\nFind out more of these fun facts by visiting National Geographic Kids website. \nLink to the Hastings Valley Amateur Beekeepers Association: https://www.beekeepers.asn.au/hastings-valley
